NB: We do not rehome interstate or to applicants under 25. It is our policy not to rehome dogs in the Sunraysia area. As rescue groups have transported thousands of homeless dogs from Mildura and Sunraysia pounds over the last decade, we do not intend to send any back there.

Nugget is a gorgeous puppy new into our care, so we are still learning about him.

What we do know is that he is a loving boy, who loves his humans and getting pats. He also loves running around and the water. Happy days!

He is house trained and knows how to use a doggy door, which is very smart for a young boy. He has also started to learn commands such as down and sit. This is a work in progress, but as he is young and doing well, we think that with further training he will be awesome. As he is still a puppy, he can jump up on people but is starting to listen when he is told “down”. He also pulls a bit on a lead (but let’s face it, most dogs do!) and again this is something that can be corrected with training.

Nugget is a bit wary of the outside world, so needs further socialisation and proper introductions with other dogs, so he can learn how to be a good doggie citizen. At the moment, it seems that he is unsure of other dogs when meeting them out and about, getting very excited and barking. He can also be a bit anxious and can at times show signs of guarding things. We are still assessing him, but ongoing socialisation and obedience training will help with this.

Nugget has a beautiful shiny black coat and lovely expressive eyes. He just needs some attention and guidance, and he will grow into a wonderful doggo that will give his lots of joy and exercise!

We think an ideal home for Nugget is where his person or family are active and involve him in physical activities as he will need regular exercise – probably two good walks a day. As well as lots of affection and guidance. At this stage we think he is either best as an only dog or with an older, calm and relaxed dog that can show him the ropes in regards to play and manners. Lovely Nugget will get you off the couch and into the park and make a terrific companion for the right person or family.

Thank you to Liv Morison of Liv Morison photography for the fantastic photos of Nugget.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. All necessary vet work such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment is also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
